There's a solar panel revolution going on and it's taking place right here in Rotterdam. This december, 3200 solar panels will be installed on top of six municipal buildings.
Rotterdam continues to increasingly make optimal use of solar energy. After all, solar power is one of the main renewable sources of energy. For starters, it's abundant, yes even in the Netherlands (today's panels aren't as affected by clouds as older models). Solar energy is also clean and it's harnessing is much less stressful on the environment when compared to fossil fuels. That is the reason why the Rotterdam municipality is choosing to install a massive amount of solar panels on municipal property.
Six buildings have been selected for the project. The installation of the solar panels is expected to yield approximately 838 kilowatt peak for the city of Rotterdam.
