Description

Renowned MC, musician, and theatre maker Gery Mendes will grace the stage at LantarenVenster with A Tale of Kriolo Times. This unique concert, presented in collaboration with the Black Soil Film Festival, combines music, storytelling, movement, and film to deliver a performance inspired by Mendes' Cape Verdean roots. The event features original compositions and an innovative blend of Cape Verdean traditional music styles with hip-hop.

Before the concert, the HipHopHuis will host the conclusion of the Casa di Cabral exhibition, alongside a screening of the documentary In Search of Borboletas, which follows Mendes' cultural journey. This prelude is both a tribute to the Cape Verdean community and a preview of Mendes' forthcoming album.
