Bear's Den @ Metropolis Festival 2014
For over 30 years now, Rotterdammers have been flocking to Zuiderpark for the annual Metropolis Festival. A free festival which attracts an average of 35,000 visitors from all over the country.
About Metropolis Festival
Metropolis is usually held on the first or second Sunday of July in Zuiderpark (near Rotterdam Ahoy). Metropolis has a reputation of being the 'go-to' reference for emerging music talent. The one-day festival provides a platform for talented bands and acts, which are on the verge of breaking through.

Now famous performers such as Smashing Pumpkins, Prodigy, The Killers, The XX and The Black Keys all took the stage at Metropolis in Rotterdam before becoming household names worldwide.

Metropolis Festival timetable (app)
If you're not a fan of printing out timetables, carrying a booklet or scrolling through websites while partying, there's a special Metropolis app you can download for free. In the Metropolis app, you can explore the lineup by clicking through to the artists via the timetable. You can also select your favorite artists and receive a notification fifteen minutes before the start of their performances. The app is available for both Android and iPhone devices. Parking at Metropolis Festival Rotterdam
Parking in the vicinity of the festival site can be done at the adjacent parking lot of Ahoy (P2). There's a special Metropolis rate of €8 (normally € 12.50) for the whole day. The parking lot is open from 12:00 in the afternoon and you're able to drive out at any time.
You can also make use of the parking garages in Zuidplein. Note: space is limited. Luckily, Rotterdam has Park and Ride facilities (parking in combination with public transport) at 15 metro stations, such as P+R Alexander, P+R Slinge and P+R Kralingse Zoom.
