Arab Film Festival RotterdamArab Film Festival Rotterdam
The Arab Film Festival in Rotterdam (AFF) highlights the Arab world from all sides: daily life and politics, but especially the beauty, art, culture and zest for life of the people who live there. This year's Arab Film Festival researches 'Changes through Cinema.'
The Arab Film Festival (AFF) will take place in Cinerama film theater from 5 - 7 October 2018. For three days, the festival will be showing the best North African, West Asian and Gulf state films made in the past year. From drama to comedy, these films are as diverse as the areas where they come from.
Visitors can get lost in the musical nostalgia of Looking for Oum Kulthum and explore feelings of love in Until the End of Time. But there is also a challenge for the film connoisseur in the absurdist Jahilya. And social commentary in radicalization story The Journey. A diverse program, of an equally diverse group of creators: within the selection of this year, 50% of filmmakers are women.

The festival theme is Changes through Cinema: how films can predict and interpret social shifts in a country or region. This year's theme is also an ode to the change that cinema itself can bring about, both on a personal and social level.
This edition also marks a change for the festival itself: on its way to a major edition from 27 to 31 March 2019, in which there is special attention for 50 years of Moroccan immigration in the Netherlands.
