Imagine a city halfway between Barcelona and Florence, where the raw energy of flamenco meets the sophistication of jazz. This is the essence of Barencia, an international ensemble that fuses music and dance into an immersive experience, blending traditions with new discoveries in unexplored artistic territories.

The band features Catalan pianist Xavi Torres, Florentine drummer Bernardo Guerra—who recently collaborated with the renowned Stefano Bollani—and young Italian double bassist Michelangelo Scandroglio. Their compositions come to life through the movement of Karen Lugo, an acclaimed Mexican flamenco dancer with a background in contemporary dance. Her bold and expressive style adds a completely new dimension to Barencia’s performances. Together, they create a hypnotic show where rhythm, melody, and movement merge into an enchanting synthesis of flamenco and jazz.
