Pink Floyd and JJ Cale might not seem like the typical inspirations for lullabies, but for Demian Dorelli, their music was among the first sounds he heard as a baby. Born in Hammersmith, London, to an Italian fashion photographer and an English ballet dancer, Dorelli was raised in an artistic household. His childhood was filled with melodies, as his father’s favourite music played softly through nearby speakers—laying the foundation for a lifelong connection to sound.

Though his career has taken surprising turns—from yoga instructor to lodge owner—music has always been his first passion. A devotee of Keith Jarrett’s Köln Concert, Dorelli found his way into jazz after watching Round Midnight, a film that deeply resonated with him. His 2021 release, Pink Moon: A Journey on Piano, recorded in Peter Gabriel’s studio, is a heartfelt homage to Nick Drake. His second album, My Window (2023), draws inspiration from Hockney’s art, blending music with visual storytelling. Always looking forward, Dorelli is working on an ambitious new project planned for 2024.
