100 Years of Boulez with Bas Wiegers, Asko|Schönberg & I Solisti

With Répons, Pierre Boulez created a sound world unlike any other. Computers alter and scatter the live sound of the musicians throughout the space, producing an immersive and ever-shifting sonic environment. Six soloists, placed around the ensemble, add a spatial layer to the music—offering a rare opportunity to experience this extraordinary work live at de Doelen in Rotterdam.

This concert brings together the acclaimed ensemble Asko|Schönberg and Belgian wind collective I Solisti, under the direction of Bas Wiegers. The performance is paired with James Tenney’s In a Large Open Space, a piece in which musicians, given maximum freedom, move through the performance area, creating subtle shifts and shimmering sonic textures.

Together, these works form a hypnotic exploration of space and sound—an electroacoustic trip like no other.
