Description
Liza Ferschtman & Lucie Horsch & Friends
Chamber Music Society
Renowned for her virtuosity on the recorder, Lucie Horsch makes her debut as a pianist this season at de Doelen’s Jurriaanse Zaal in Rotterdam. A true multitalent, Horsch now joins forces with violinist Liza Ferschtman and double bassist Olivier Thiery for a programme that features Vaughan Williams’s Piano Quintet and Schubert’s beloved Trout Quintet. Both works are anchored by the warm, resonant voice of the double bass—an instrument that brings these ensemble pieces richly to life.
Schubert’s Trout Quintet, famous for its captivating fourth movement based on his lied Die Forelle, has long been a staple of chamber repertoire. With Horsch taking the piano’s upper register and the contrabass assuming the bassline, the dynamic is reimagined with fresh brilliance. Vaughan Williams’s rarely performed Piano Quintet takes a more prominent role in this programme, offering lush textures and rewarding interpretations for performers and audience alike.
Expect a performance defined by mastery, joyful interplay, and sparkling musical personalities.
