Description
Pianist Bruce Liu, winner of the prestigious Chopin Competition, brings a fresh brilliance to the Polish composer’s most iconic works. His interpretations are strikingly original, breathing new life into familiar compositions. For this special collaboration, Amsterdam Sinfonietta has arranged Chopin’s most celebrated pieces for piano and string orchestra.
Born in Paris to Chinese parents and raised in Montreal, Liu’s distinctive perspective and artistry have been shaped by his multicultural upbringing. His international breakthrough came in 2021, when he won the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. For this performance at de Doelen in Rotterdam, Liu joins Amsterdam Sinfonietta for a compelling rendition of Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto and the virtuosic Polonaise brillante, both presented in unique arrangements for piano and strings.
